Door Lock Circuits

The diagram above is a power-switched or positive pulse door lock circuit. It contains two relays. Relays are electronically controlled switches, allowing manufacturers to use low-current devices to control high-current devices.

By using relays, manufacturers can use lightweight, thin gauge wiring for the door switches to control the high current door actuator motors. These switches and a thinner gauge wiring send a low amperage signal to the lock or unlock relay according to the switch's position. The relay then completes the high amperage circuit, activating the door lock actuators.
